Gold sponsorship renewal with the Ecomar Foundation

We have renewed our GOLD Sponsorship to the Ecomar Foundation chaired by Theresa Zabell, with whom we have been collaborating since 2018. Ecomar is a private public interest entity that aims to bring people, especially children and young people, closer to the marine environment by teaching the ecological and environmental values of the sea. Ecomar has become a benchmark in the cleaning of coasts, being among the first organisations to perform them, and after more than 20 years of continuous collaboration with leading entities that make it possible. The GOLD Sponsorship to which we are attached entails, beyond economic collaboration, the promulgation and practice of Ecomar values giving visibility of our message on different communication platforms, assignment of space at fairs and events, providing material for use in cleaning coasts (gloves and bags), and the organisation of beach clean-ups involving both company personnel and schools, nautical schools and sports centres. This year we will enhance this collaboration by actively engaging in the new and exciting projects that Ecomar will put in place to continue taking care of the seas and oceans, projects that we will share with employees and clients, because we want to remain part of the solution.

Gloves for cleaning weeds

Weeding in the garden is an important and often underestimated task. Weeds are a visual nuisance, but they are also harmful to plant health and the overall appearance of your garden. There are several ways to clean weeds, so we have selected a glove reference for each task depending on the risk. A good way to contain weeds is by using preventive gardening techniques: With herbicide use you should wear chemically protected gloves such as H821, to protect your hands from chemicals. For using hand tools such as hoes to start root plants, the H411IN cowhide leather glove with additional palm reinforcement provides good flexibility and comfort. When using trimmers to cut weeds flush with the floor or lawnmowers for grass, you should protect yourself with the HG270GY glove with padded protection on the palm and knuckle area to dampen shock and absorb vibrations from the machine. In addition, it is important to keep the garden clean and tidy, regularly removing fallen leaves and branches, as this can provide an ideal environment for weed growth.

The secret of cut-resistant gloves: engineered yarns

Engineered yarns are one of the greatest innovations in manufacturing cut-resistant work gloves over the last few decades. Created by combining two or more fibres, the threads produced in this process make work gloves more resistant to cutting, whilst also providing great dexterity and touch. Engineered yarns are responsible for this great step forward in protecting workers' hands but... what are they exactly? These threads are the result of manufacturing using two or more fibres, with infinite combinations. The high-resistance components such as Kevlar® or high-performance polyethylene (HPPE) such as Dyneema® are used in the core of the engineered yarn that can become more resistant to cutting by combining this central thread with other fibres. The Dyneema® fibre is polyethylene with an ultra high molecular weight known as UHMWPE, developed and patented in 1990 by Dutch multinational DSM. It is manufactured in a patented spinning process where the fibres are stretched, heated, lengthened and cooled. The stretching and turning encourage molecular alignment, high crystallisation and low density, all giving it great cutting resistance. Dyneema® has extremely long molecular chains that transfer the load more effectively to the polymer skeleton. Therefore, it is stronger at the same weight or lighter with the same strength as alternative products. Up to 15 times stronger than steel (weight for weight). Up to 40% stronger than aramid fibres (weight for weight) The Juba catalogue includes cut-resistant work gloves manufactured using different engineered yarns. Here are a few examples of how to combine different threads to obtain cut-resistant gloves intended for a variety of uses.   4400. Dyneema® fibre + fibreglass Uses: Naval and wind-power construction. Work gloves - Cold special

Several jobs inevitably imply exposing our hands to the cold. This can lead to a variety of injuries or diseases, some very serious, if the right measures are not taken. Standards The UNE-EN 511:2006 standard specifies requirements and test methods for work gloves that protect our hands against convective and conductive cold down to -50 °C. Marking All gloves should be marked with this pictogram (picture on the right), distinguishing insulation levels for convective cold (a), contact cold (b) and water penetration (c). Types of jobs that require cold protection gloves: - Jobs in cold chambers: including chambers that keep food fresh between 2°C and 8°C and others that freeze food below -25°C, etc. - Open air jobs: farming, road maintenance, airport ground crew... night shifts (fishermen, security staff, etc.) or working at a considerable height (vertical work, etc.), etc. - Indoor work with no heating: particularly if this is sedentary work, such as security staff guarding the inside of a factory, work sitting down, etc. - Jobs in contact with cold water or handling wet and/or cold objects, such as fishermen, working on oil platforms, handling frozen food, assembling metal components, etc. For jobs where hands must be protected not only against the cold but also from water, Juba has included items in its catalogue featuring special membranes and 100% watertight work gloves. Our recommendations:   H260 - New! Work glove with synthetic leather on the palm, an elastane back and a reflective strip across the knuckles. Exclusive packaging in individual wrapping for sales points. 411CFV - Glove made of water-repellent full-grain leather with a Thinsulate® lining (40 g), suitable for temperatures down to -10ºC 6k30 - Robust glove, 100% waterproof. Resistant to salt and chemical products. Gloves with Actifresh® treatment that prevents unpleasant odours and eliminates bacteria caused by sweat plus the Sanitized® treatment that prevents skin irritation. 5658TH - 100% waterproof. Resistant to chemical products. Removable thermal lining inner glove, made out of acrylic looped fabric that maintains hand temperature effectively. Very comfortable, quick dry. Actifresh® treatment that prevents unpleasant odours 5130W - PVC-covered palm with HPT technology (Hydropellent TechnologyTM). The terry-loop fabric inside keeps hand temperature stable when temperatures drop to around 0º C. Suitable for food use according to Regulation 10/2011 CRYOPLUS - Work glove with an inner polyester fleece lining or greater thermal insulation and Porelle® membrane that makes it breathable whilst stopping liquids from penetrating it.   *** By clicking this link, you can access all work gloves in the Juba catalogue offering special cold protection.
