Coating guide: Latex

Latex is a milky-looking substance obtained from cuts made in the Hevea brasiliensis tree that can be found in Africa and southern Asia. Its qualities make it widely sought-after as a coating for work gloves.
Its main qualities are:
- Highly flexible and elastic
- Good grip in dry and wet environments
- Excellent resistance to tearing and abrasion
- Very solid
- Water-resistant, non porous
*Latex can cause skin problems among people who are allergic to this substance

Types of latex coating:

1. Rough: Excellent wet and dry grip

Example glove: 254. Seamless polyester glove, covered with rough latex.

Example glove: G 16800 FISHERMAN. Work glove with rough latex coating on cotton support. It provides firm grip on slippery, dry or wet parts.

2. Sandy:
Microfinish: Providing comfort, flexibility and dexterity without foregoing a solid glove, plus an effective grip in any wet or dry situation.

Example glove: XA326 ACTIVGRIP. Seamless Nylon® glove with double Microfinish® latex coating.

NTF: Recommended for mechanical work in wet and dry conditions. Excellent fit, comfort and dexterity.

Example glove: 4404HC POWER CUT. Glove made of Dyneema® fibre mixed with fibreglass, coated in NFT latex across half the back.

3. Vulcanised: Strong and long lasting for demanding work

Example glove: 219 RESISTER. Seamless, vulcanised, latex work glove on Kevlar® support

4. ANR: ANR latex technology offers better grip and high resistance to abrasion and scratching.

Example glove: H257 FEEL & GRIP. Nylon® glove coated in latex with ANR technology (Advanced Natural Rubber) on the palm.

5. Bipolymer: Flexible, light and great sense of touch. Excellent breathability and comfort level. Good wet and dry grip

Example glove: NTF00 NINJA THERMA FORCE. Dyneema® fibre glove mixed with other synthetic fibres and rough bipolymer palm coating (latex and nitrile). Acrylic lining to beat the cold.

Juba: Committed to sustainability and the future of the planet

Landscape and visual improvement: We beautify the environment, creating natural spaces that enrich the landscape and provide recreational areas. Soil protection and restoration: Our trees help prevent erosion and improve soil quality. Increasing water catchment capacity: We contribute to improving the land's capacity to absorb and retain water, protecting water resources. Supporting the fight against depopulation: We promote the reactivation of rural areas and the generation of opportunities for their inhabitants. Development of research projects: We promote scientific studies that help us to better understand how to optimise these ecosystems for greater environmental benefit. Juba certifies its commitment to the SDGs with Aenor

We are in luck! Juba have accredited with AENOR that our business strategy contributes to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), being the first Spanish company in the sector to achieve this. Juba has made a strong commitment believing the SDGs are essential to address global challenges and build a more sustainable and equitable future. They all include actions and measures to consolidate the positioning of our company in a greener, more inclusive and transparent future. As an integral part of Juba's corporate culture and as a guide for our management system, we have demonstrated a commitment to the future, the planet and citizenship, we want to fulfil our mission and participate in the changes that are required globally to achieve the goals set by the 2030 Agenda. With this certification, Juba underlines its leadership and strengthens its commitment to nine of the Sustainable Development Goals, which it defends and promotes. Among Juba's different sustainable actions, the use of renewable energies, its strong commitment to the use of fibres created from vegetable matter in many of its products under the name of Juba Nature, the reduction of paper and plastic in its packaging and, among other commitments, stands out the collaboration with the Ecomar Foundation. This is not the first AENOR certificate for Juba; the company already has other certificates such as ISO 9001 for its Quality Management System, ISO 14001 for its Environmental Management System and ISO 45001, which certifies its Occupational Health and Safety Management System as of 2019. In addition, the company situated in La Rioja has a Carbon Footprint Calculator developed by Bunzl Spain, which has achieved the AENOR seal based on the GHG Protocol.

New certifications for Juba's sustainable products: GRS and RCS

Recycling has emerged as a powerful ally in a textile industry that manufactures 100 billion garments worldwide every year. In this context, it has been necessary to explore circular models to reuse materials that can be transformed into new fabrics and garments with the help of different recycling technologies. Juba wanted to guarantee the quality, transparency and sustainable practices of its products with respect to textile recycling. Therefore, it has certified some of its references with two leading accreditations developed by a global non-profit organization, Textile Exchange: Global Recycle Standard (GRS), which verifies the recycled content of products, in addition to responsible social, environmental and chemical practices in their production. The standard covers the processing, manufacturing, packaging, labelling, trade and distribution of all products made with a minimum of 20% recycled material. Recycled Blended Claim Standard (RCS) aims to maintain the identity of a recycled raw material by tracking the entire production chain, from supply to distribution. Specifically, the RCS logo can be used when a product contains between 5 and 95% recycled material. In particular, references with the RCS Blended seal must have a portion of their fabric coming from recycled materials. Here are some of the most common combinations: Recycled polyester + cotton Recycled cotton + polyester Recycled polyester + polyester Recycled polyester + elastane Juba's Nature range includes three references with this certification: H265NT NATURE, a glove made with 20% post-consumer recycled polyester, which comes from recycled PET bottles, so its production contributes to the development of the circular economy, which offers great flexibility and extra comfort, adapting perfectly to the hand. Seamless and with an exceptional touch, this blue Juba reference has a 15 gauge and very good abrasion resistance, increased durability. It provides a solid grip in dry and wet environments. H251NT NATURE, a Juba reference made with a 18% recycled pre consumer cotton and 24% recycled post consumer polyester, plus a natural rubber coating. These gloves offer the user a solid grip in dry and wet environments. In addition to good abrasion resistance, which makes the product more durable. In addition, this model is resistant to contact heat (250ºC for 15"). Among the features of this glove is its sweat absorption, which keeps hands comfortable and fresh, thanks to Sanitized®. This sanitizing function protects gloves from fungus, mites and bacteria, prevents odours, provides long-lasting protection to polymers and minimizes skin irritation. Juba offers this glove with recycled point-of-sale cardboard. H251NTWT NATURE: a glove with a very similar design to the previous one, but with an inner liner that keeps the temperature of the hands stable down to 0ºC. However, the liner of this Juba reference is made with more recycled fibres: 9% recycled pre-consumer cotton and 53% recycled post consumer polyester. These gloves provide solid grip in dry and wet environments. They are also resistant to contact heat (250°C for 15") and respond very well to abrasion for increased durability. The inner liner absorbs sweat very well, keeping the wearer's hands comfortable and cool.
