GHG Protocol by AENOR obtained by Juba

Juba has achieved the AENOR’s GHG Protocol certification, the internationally recognized protocol for the Greenhouse gases emission calculation thanks to the Carbon Footprint Calculator designed by the Bunzl Group in Spain.

The GHG Emissions Calculation Tool is not only helping Juba to estimate our activity’s greenhouse gas emissions is not only allowing for measuring Juba’s carbon footprint, it also allows our customers for calculating their own carbon footprint in terms of distribution. Therefore, we are ready to support our customers by providing key data that can boost to streamlining their distribution costs.

There are three possible areas of verification:

Scope 1: Direct emissions

Emissions from fleet of vehicles’ burning fuel.
Emissions from refrigeration and air conditioning units.
Emissions from industrial processes.

Scope 2: indirect emissions from purchased energy

Consumption of purchased electricity, steam, heat and cooling.

Scope 3: other indirect emissions.

Emissions linked to the company’s operations.
Emissions relating to the production of fuels and energy consumed.
Emissions due to transportation and distribution for logistics suppliers.
Waste generated in operations (paper, plastics, metals, etc).
Emissions emitted by employees through travel to and from work.
Emissions derived from logistics of subcontracted transportation.

This is a step forward in Juba’s agenda in favour of sustainability and commitment with environmental respect and care, promoting the control and reduction of our activity’s impact in the Planet.

In particular, it works in line with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 5: Gender equality - Promoting the presence of women in leadership positions and fostering a work environment where all people have equal opportunities for development. SDG 8: Decent work and economic growth - focus on fair working conditions, equal access to growth opportunities and the elimination of all gender gaps. SDG 10: Reducing inequalities - Implementing internal policies that favour inclusion and diversity, ensuring that talent is the sole criterion for professional growth. The road to real equality still has challenges, but at Juba we believe that a more equitable world is possible and that every action, no matter how small, contributes to achieving it.

Juba: Committed to sustainability and the future of the planet

Juba's team is very proud to announce another important step in its commitment to sustainability. Over the past few years, it has worked hard to calculate its carbon footprint and effectively reduce it. Now, it wants to go further and offset its environmental impact by actively contributing to the fight against climate change. To this end, the company has planted more than 6.800 trees in the municipality of Pobladura del Valle, Zamora, creating a natural CO2 sink. This forest not only captures carbon, but also offers numerous ecosystemic benefits that contribute to the improvement of the environment and local communities. Benefits of the project in Pobladura del Valle 🌳 The creation of this carbon sink not only helps to mitigate the effects of climate change, but also brings a number of tangible environmental and social benefits: Increased biodiversity: We increase the variety of plant and animal species, creating a richer and more balanced ecosystem. Production of natural resources: We enhance both timber and non-timber resources, supporting the local economy in a sustainable way. Landscape and visual improvement: We beautify the environment, creating natural spaces that enrich the landscape and provide recreational areas. Soil protection and restoration: Our trees help prevent erosion and improve soil quality. Increasing water catchment capacity: We contribute to improving the land's capacity to absorb and retain water, protecting water resources. Supporting the fight against depopulation: We promote the reactivation of rural areas and the generation of opportunities for their inhabitants. Development of research projects: We promote scientific studies that help us to better understand how to optimise these ecosystems for greater environmental benefit. Juba's contribution to SDG 13: Climate Action 🌍 This project is aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 13: Climate Action, which seeks to take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts. Through the creation of natural carbon sinks, we not only contribute to reducing the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere, but also help to create resilient ecosystems that mitigate the effects of climate change, such as droughts, fires and loss of biodiversity. In this way, we are committed to being an active part of the global fight against global warming and to promoting natural solutions that benefit both the environment and local communities. Juba certifies its commitment to the SDGs with Aenor

We are in luck! Juba have accredited with AENOR that our business strategy contributes to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), being the first Spanish company in the sector to achieve this. Juba has made a strong commitment believing the SDGs are essential to address global challenges and build a more sustainable and equitable future. They all include actions and measures to consolidate the positioning of our company in a greener, more inclusive and transparent future. As an integral part of Juba's corporate culture and as a guide for our management system, we have demonstrated a commitment to the future, the planet and citizenship, we want to fulfil our mission and participate in the changes that are required globally to achieve the goals set by the 2030 Agenda. With this certification, Juba underlines its leadership and strengthens its commitment to nine of the Sustainable Development Goals, which it defends and promotes. Within each of the lines of action, Juba has developed initiatives that contribute to selected areas within the following SDGs: 03. Ensure healthy living and promote well-being at all ages. 05. Among Juba's different sustainable actions, the use of renewable energies, its strong commitment to the use of fibres created from vegetable matter in many of its products under the name of Juba Nature, the reduction of paper and plastic in its packaging and, among other commitments, stands out the collaboration with the Ecomar Foundation. This is not the first AENOR certificate for Juba; the company already has other certificates such as ISO 9001 for its Quality Management System, ISO 14001 for its Environmental Management System and ISO 45001, which certifies its Occupational Health and Safety Management System as of 2019. In addition, the company situated in La Rioja has a Carbon Footprint Calculator developed by Bunzl Spain, which has achieved the AENOR seal based on the GHG Protocol.
